LeBron James has never averaged fewer than 33 minutes per game. To open Season 21, he logged just 29 minutes in Denver, and Darvin Ham said that would be the norm. Will a LeBrom minutes restriction last? ⁦@TheAthleticNBA⁩ theathletic.com/4996792/2023/1…11:56 AM

New story: LeBron’s workload is going to be limited to the 28-30 minute range this season. Which will make it even more imperative for Anthony Davis to not have nights like he did Tuesday – going scoreless in the second half – if LA expects to contend es.pn/45JZWcw12:53 AM

Darvin Ham on if LeBron James’ 29 minutes will be a trend this season: “We’ll see. In all likelihood, yes.”

A lot is being made of AD not scoring in the second half, when the truth is, he wasn’t really playing well in the first Half….he just scored a lot. Wasn’t defending. Wasn’t rebounding. Wasn’t impacting the game beyond his buckets – 10:02 PM

Some observations from the loss…
-Your not winning games giving up that many points (119)
-AD not scoring in the 2nd half makes no sense
-Needed more from Rui, D’Lo & Reaves (Not efficient)
-Lebron & Prince were excellent – 9:58 PM

A couple of big 3s from DLo in that quarter. AD has 17 points. LeBron has 12. They only combined for two points in the third; LA needs to put both of them in better positions offensively. Taurean Prince (15 points) has been awesome tonight. – 9:19 PM

LA responded well to close the half w/ AD on the bench. AD has 17 points. LeBron has 10 — all at the rim. DLo’s shooting struggles against DEN have continued (2-7 FGs), but he has 5 assists. Darvin Ham is using a 10-man rotation. Jokic has 19 & 9. – 8:37 PM

Davis has 11 of his 17 points in the 2nd Q, repeatedly going at Jokic, getting LAL within 8.

The way AD vs Jokic gets refereed is a huge key. They called one foul on Jokic early for using his body, but the next 2 instances they haven’t called it. Refs aren’t going to make that call 3x, AD will have to play thru it. – 7:51 PM

The NBA enlisted an actor from “The Sopranos” and borrowed the central theme of the film “Ocean’s Eleven” — a Las Vegas heist — to hype the inaugural In-Season Tournament that begins Nov. 3. The latest marketing move, released Wednesday, is a nearly 2-minute spot featuring actor Michael Imperioli narrating how seven players — Anthony Davis, Trae Young, DeMar DeRozan, Julius Randle, Kawhi Leonard, Darius Garland and Draymond Green — are in a casino plotting to steal the NBA Cup. That’s the trophy the winner of the tournament finale in Las Vegas gets on Dec. 9. The NBA says the tournament will differ from the norm of early season basketball, with different playing floors and uniforms. -via Associated Press / October 25, 2023
LeBron James opened up his 21st season by being limited to 29 minutes in the Los Angeles Lakers’ 119-107 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday. Lakers coach Darvin Ham said the tapered workload for the 38-year-old superstar is part of the team’s plan moving forward. “It’s easy with him to get caught up in the emotion of the game and you tend to forget you want to play these long stretches, but in order for him to be as effective as possible, we have to be mindful of the minute output and how long his stretches are,” Ham said. -via ESPN / October 25, 2023
Dave McMenamin: Darvin Ham says Taurean Prince will start on opening night. Calls the start “circumstantial.” Jarred Vanderbilt remains day to day with his heel but Ham says “in all likelihood” Vando will not be available on Tuesday. -via Twitter @mcten / October 21, 2023
